A couple of weeks ago, Matthew and I spent the night at the most exquisite hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary (here is the post from our wedding last year!!) together. The Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc posted this photo (above) of me on their Instagram last week, and inspired me to share some of our photos from this lovely getaway!
First of all, THANK YOU to my parents who watched the kiddos while we were away! They were in town, and the timing was perfect for a night alone. The Hôtel was about 10 minutes from our rental in Antibes, so it was wonderful to be both close to the kids, and far at the same time :)
This hotel is legendary - and the pictures speak for themselves as far as its beauty! The amfAR Gala is hosted here each year, and it is the hotel to stay at during the Cannes Film Festival. The walls of the dining area are covered with gorgeous vintage photos of World leaders, Presidents, and celebrities vacationing at Eden-Roc. Elizabeth Taylor vacationed for 2 months celebrating her honeymoon, in the next photo the entire Kennedy clan is pictured laying by the pool. Matthew and I lingered long after lunch peering at the many photos.
There are only 112 rooms, and ours was a first floor walkout with a lovely patio. We spent the first day lounging, relaxing and exploring the lush grounds. The pool area was incredible. The infinity pool disappears right into the blue ocean amid the rocky coast of Antibes. It's truly a gorgeous sight.
I left my phone in our room (and stole Matthew's for photos occasionally!) so unfortunately I did not capture any from our anniversary dinner, or sadly a photo of us together. But it's perfect that way, a memory just for us :)
A difference both Matthew and I have noticed from the US to France is dining times. Here in France it is not only common, but expected that you will dine for at least 2-4 hours. Menus are often not even presented until about 30 minutes after you have settled in with a drink. So without children or a babysitter to get back to, we enjoyed our first nearly 4 hour dining experience! I walked out WAY to full, but so relaxed and in love with my husband. I am so grateful we had this time to spend along together.
A wonderful weekend celebrating a marriage I am thankful for everyday! This past year has been nothing short of magic, and I am so excited to spend the rest of my years exploring this world with Matthew and our children. I couldn't be happier :)
Thank you for reading along - I hope you enjoyed these photos.
