Happy Friday everyone!!
If you follow me on social media you may have seen I was in Mexico last weekend relaxing the days away with Matthew! My parents graciously offered to watch our girls and we jumped at the opportunity for a quick getaway to somewhere warm!
Around 2 years ago when Josie was a baby, we went to the Paradisus all-inclusive resort in Los Cabos, Mexico and had a great time, so we decided to try something similar in a different part of Mexico. We decided on the Grand Fiesta Americana Resort in Puerto Vallarta and we had such a wonderful time! After having a couple different experience with the all-inclusive type resorts, I wanted to review our stay at the Grand FIesta Ameracana for anyone planning a trip to Mexico in the future!
The flight from Minneapolis is very easy, Sun Country offers direct flights daily and it was just under 4 hours. Once we arrived at the airport, the taxi was around 15 minutes to the resort - and the weather was incredible!
This trip was the exact same time of year as our trip to Los Cabos, but the weather was very different. The sky was overcast for much of our last trip, but we were blessed with perfect sunny skies for our entire stay this time.
The Grand Fiesta is an adults only resort, which was a great choice for us on a trip without children. All of the restaurants and accommodations were perfectly set up for a romantic weekend, and it made being away from our kids easier when I didn't see cute little ones playing by the pool at every turn!
The poolside area had plenty of chaise lounges set up, so getting a seat was always possible even during peak hours. The suite we were staying in came with a free cabana (which was a great perk!) otherwise they were available for rent for a small price. I found the poolside waiters to be very attentive when it came to offering snacks and beverages (maybe a little TOO attentive, lol) so we always felt comfortable and relaxed!
One difference that was clear between our stay in Los Cabos and at the Grand Fiesta was the food! I was pretty underwhelmed by the food at the Paradisus Resort we stayed at previously and just assumed that 'all-inclusive' packages just meant the food would always be sup-par, hence the price. But the food at Grand Fiesta was a pleasant surprise, we both really enjoyed it! There were three different levels of restaurants, so for each meal you had the choice between a casual buffet style, the bar-like atmosphere of the mid level casual plated restaurants or the fine dining options which required reservations that you could make each morning. We enjoyed all three and loved the flexibility of the options. Once or twice we may have even stopped by the buffet AFTER dinner to grab a little extra dessert to bring back to our room :)
What I also loved about these options was that it gave me the chance to get dressed up for dinner the way I would on a date night out with Matthew. Each restaurant detailed their dress code so that you could also choose based on how casual you felt like being, it is vacation after all! The picture above was from the breakfast buffet we went to each morning, which was right on the beach and a lovely way to wake up! The photo below was taken right before we headed to one of our fine dining nights, right before the sunset! My jumpsuit is by Tory Burch and shoes by Gucci from The Real Real - and stay tuned for a post coming about my FAVORITE clothing website coming very soon!
As you can see below, the views from our suite were amazing! The resort is set up so every room has a beautiful ocean view, and the lush jungle behind us was gorgeous too!
One day we took the local bus (which picked up steps away from the entrance to the resort) into town and explored downtown Puerto Vallarta! This bus felt more like a roller coaster than a bus and I hope you learn from me and DO NOT bring hot coffee on board!! Lol it was a fun, fast and VERY bumpy ride into town, but it only took about 10 minutes and cost less than $1. We had a great time exploring the beautiful city!
Back at the resort, they held an Oscars screening party and it was a fun excuse to get all glammed up! I didn't get a picture, but I wore a long dress and we had a nice night watching the show in the warm breeze! It was also screened in an outdoor bar which was filled with hot tubs for you to relax in while drinking and watching, lol they have everything!
Overall we had such a great time, and I would absolutely recommend planning a stay here if you're thinking of taking a trip somewhere warm with all adults! I hope you enjoyed this review, and have a wonderful weekend!!
