Happy Monday everyone!
First of all, to everyone who has been following along on our remodel - WE'RE IN! And we finally have hot water (!!!) but that's an entirely different story. It's been a crazy journey getting here, and it isn't even close to complete, but it's looking better everyday! Here is a picture I snapped around sunset of my beautiful little family, in our beautiful new home :) Life is indeed very good.
After a long few weeks of the girls being so patient with the move, we decided to take a trip into the mountains and let them be free! The weather is really starting to chill out here, especially in the mountains, but it's still only around low 50's on average. We packed some coats and headed out!
The drive into the Alps was fantastic. I am positively in love with mountains anywhere, but the alps are especially gorgeous. It's impossible to capture their beauty in photos, but I do love looking at these and revisiting the spectacular sights. It's hard to see, but In the photo below the smoke is coming from a tiny village situated at the bottom of the valley! These little villages, often made up of less than 100 people, are dotted all over the alps.
We settled in Tende, a mountain town on the boarder to France and Italy, about an hour 1/2 northeast of Nice. First thing was first, we hit up the local boulangerie for some quiche and pastries!
How cute are these little kiddos?!?! Their jackets are from Zara Kids (the faux fur snaps on and off so it doesn't get ruined in the wash!) Josie top is Zara here, Target jeans here and her shoes (machine washable, woohoo!) are here, Maddie's Target pants are here, and Old Navy boots here (on sale and 40% off, woohoo!) Cuteness not for sale, they're all mine :)
The kids loved looking down at all of the trout swimming in the stream below. After walking around the town, we decided to take a hike up to a lower plateau on the mountain and check out an overlook of the city!
Pretty sure I had about 30 anxiety attacks before we made it to the top, and then about 20 on the way down, but no one tripped, fell or got lost on the way up! Thank God I have Matthew to be the brave one, or else we would never do things like this. My life would be so boring without him!
That same view we were looking at over the bridge a few pictures below! The girls did such a great job on our hike! Josie walked the whole way (about a mile 1/2 up and then back down), I was SO proud! Needless to say everyone napped well on the car ride home later!
But look at those snow capped Alps! This photo makes my heart so happy!
And over in this corner you're looking out at Italy! We were right on the boarder.
Snapped a picture after we had made It the whole way down! What a little trooper!!
And then back on the road again driving to Nice!
Thanks for following along, have a wonderful week!
