If you have been following along (in Paris week 1, week 2 , week 3 and Versailles and Nice) then you know our month long trip to France was an absolute dream. An enormous amount of planning went into this trip and wedding, and seeing my vision come to life was such an incredible feeling.
Over a year ago, after Matthew had proposed and we begun discussing wedding plans, we had a big decision to make regarding size and location of our big day. Both of our families are so large, and a wedding including everyone would have been in the high 200's, possibly 300. My family is primarily from Chicago, while Matthew's family is from Northern Minnesota and all around the cities. The more details we tried to pin down, the more overwhelmed we felt with trying to accommodate everyone. Finally Matthew suggested a destination wedding, Europe perhaps? This is why I love him :)
Making the decision to host a small and intimate wedding (we invited around 30 guests) was so difficult, but rewarding. There were so many family members and friends who we wished could have joined us, but in the end the intimate party and destination setting was perfection.
After months of searching every Castle, Villa and Chateau in London, Ireland and France, I had narrowed our search down to 3 locations. We took a trip to Europe last summer, and while visiting the locations, we ruled all 3 out. I felt so discouraged, and frustrated over how much time I had wasted. We ended our trip in our favorite city, Paris, and it was then that it became clear, this was where we should have looked all along! The city of love, is there anything more romantic?!
I contacted Fete in France, a fantastic team of English speaking planners, who specialize in planning destination weddings in Paris. Anne was immensely helpful in bringing my vision to life, and making us feel calm and overjoyed on our wedding day! There is an overload of pictures below, but I am so thrilled to share this day with all of you! I take so much pride in how this day came together - from the flower arrangements I designed, to the incredible venue I chose! Oh yeah, and my dress is still my favorite part (other than Matthew!!) Every day I spend with Matthew feels like a fairy tale, and this perfect wedding was just an absolute dream come true! I am the luckiest wife and mother alive to have such an incredible family!
