Here at our house we just LOVE books. Josie's interest in toys comes and goes, but her favorite books are always on a constant rotation. Whether you're attending a baby shower, children's birthday party or have littles of your own - great book recommendations are always useful! So I've created a list of our most read and loved books - from the classics to new titles we adore!
I remember reading this as a child! This one was a favorite around here when Josie was just starting to speak. One of her first words was uttered while reading this - 'CHEESE!' she yelled excitedly as we turned the page to reveal all the foods the caterpillar sampled. Still a favorite of hers and always a classic.
A perfect starter book for little readers. This has been part of our bedtime routine from day 1 with both Jos and Mads. An easy, short, sweet and silly book to read right before tucking them in. I would also recommend this Boynton greatest hits collection as a great gift set - because really, all of her books are great for the first year!
The last book we read Jos before bed every night. She loves asking for 'Josie Moon!' and whispering 'hush' to us just like the old lady in the story. We practice finding the little mice and identifying objects in the room. A calming book which promotes vocabulary development and is great for tiny babies to older toddlers.
This is one of those books that's just fun to read! The story follows Blue and his friends as they help out a grumpy dump truck while teaching him an important lesson along the way. This is the perfect length to keep children entertained without dragging on forever. Josie loves making the animal sounds and yelling "HONKKKKK" whenever the dump truck is on the page!
We never travel without this book, it's our absolute favorite story. We read it together as Josie acts out Pout-pout's part yelling "blub, blub, BLUBBB" and can never get through the story without plenty of giggles. Bonus points for finding a book which gives me extra reason to smooch Josie over and over again! My brother gave this to Jos as a gift and I've given it to many friends now, too. It's a wonderful story!
Beautiful illustrations, adorable and relatable storyline - this is an awesome book! Set in Africa, this is a fun way to expand the scope of animals your children sees! Jos now knows about rhinos, baboons, and warthogs all while learning an awesome lesson.
The illustrations in this story are simply stunning. I love reading this and entering my own dreamland as I'm putting the girls to sleep. Short and so sweet - this is always a favorite of mine.
A classic and one of my favorite books to read to our girls. We have a little stuffed bunny we hold while reading this and act out the story with her. Such a sweet story of the love between a mother and her child. Makes me teary just thinking about it :)
And there you have it! SO so so many more books that we love, but I'm happy to share some of the highlights with you! What are your favorite children's books? I'd love to hear in the comments!
