Happy Holidays everyone!! I know I say this every week - but these holidays are so busy, I could barely even find the time today to write this post! It's probably going to be short on words, but filled with pictures, so I hope you enjoy!!
We spent this weekend in Chicago celebrating Christmas with my extended family. I've spent nearly every Christmas of my life in Chicago, and as of last year we have started getting together a couple weeks earlier to take some of the stress off Christmas day. This was especially helpful this year as this was really the last weekend I could travel before baby, so I jumped at the chance!
Before our flight, my Mom informed me that she would be stealing Josie for the next hour - no argument here! Matthew and I spent the flight with a free lap and I relaxed with my Kindle while hearing giggles from both Josie and Grandma behind me! They even took selfies together :)
Matthew has not been feeling the best, so after getting to the hotel and settling in, Josie and I went out for a girls night exploring! Our hotel was in the western suburbs so we would be closer to family - and the best part was being within walking distance of my favorite mall!
I am so in love with the Oak Brook Center! My Grandma has lived in a condo across the street all my life, so I've grown up shopping there all the time. My parents actually met while working at the mall together, so you could say it has a little history for me! It's a beautiful luxury outdoor shopping mall that's just magical during Christmas time. It felt a little bizarre this year without snow, but Josie and I walked around outside enjoying the Christmas market in the middle without freezing our butts off - so no complaints here!
She had so much fun checking out the light displays in the market, it was such a fun night together just the two of us. There is something about the holidays that just makes me so nostalgic about traditions, and Christmas shopping at Oak Brook Center is one tradition I have always really enjoyed, and loved sharing with Josie!
We quickly popped into Zara to check things out a little and I got some giggles while teasing her with this hat! But speaking of Zara, the real reason I wanted to go in was to check out thier kids section - OMG it's too much.
That Minnie Mouse sweatshirt is just too adorable, and I was just dying over the toddler gear. Most of the really great stuff is for 3 and up, but seriously it looks like they replicated an Isabel Marant collection just for toddlers. I cant even handle it.
The next day it was time to celebrate Christmas with my Grandma Flo! Her condo is literally a cross between a winter wonderland meets FAO Schwarz around the holidays. When we first got there Josie did about 5 laps to make sure she had seen everything, she especially loved this santa who climbed up every stair on his ladder and then back down over and over again while playing music. So basically every kids dream decorations.
She was showered with gift after gift and finally settled down for a total sensory overload nap just in time for the rest of us to enjoy desert! It was so great getting everyone together, even my brother had fun playing with her!
The next day we relaxed in the morning and enjoyed a late breakfast before heading out again for the next Christmas party!
I just love watching these two together, it truly melts my heart! Josie is such a daddy's girl and just adores spending so much time with him! I know it will be a challenge bringing our new baby into the picture and sharing our time with her - but knowing that the first few weeks Matthew will be there to spend extra time with her makes me so happy, I know she will be in Heaven!
Here's Josie admiring her cousins dress :)
After having a blast at the party playing with her little cousins (and balloons!) Josie was OUT COLD. When we went to get her out of her car seat after arriving at the airport, this was her. She has never been one to sleep in the car or stroller, so someone was seriously tired.
Another wonderful weekend down, and only a few more to go till Christmas - oh yeah, and baby! Life is crazy wonderful - I hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well!
